64 Plus Tribes of South Sudan in alphabetical order.

  • Certain South Sudanese anthropologists and researchers such as Daniel Akol Diing group these 64 tribes into 12 nationalities depending on language and culture:

    1. Azande (Azande, Balanda Makaraka)
    2. Baka (Bele, Baka, Mondu, Modo and Nyamusa)
    3. Bari (Karo) Bari, Kakwa, Kuku, Nyangwra, Mundari, Nyepo and Pojulu
    4. Burun (Maaban, Koma and Uduk)
    5. Dinka (Agaar, Bor, Padaang and Rek)
    6. Luo (Acholi, Anywaa, Cholo, Jur, Peri, Langi and Thuri)
    7. Lotuha (Lotuko, Lokoya, Lopit& Lango)
    8. Madi (Avokaya, Kiloko, Lolubo, Logbara, Madi and Muro)
    9. Murle (Buoya, Dedinga, Jeye Kachipo, Murle)
    10. Ndogo (Balanda Viri, Banda, Keresh, Magaya, Yolo and Ndogo)
    11. Nuer ( Central, Eastern and Western)
    12. Taposa (Mathaa and Nyakthom)
